The transformation of this duplex is rooted in a search for continuity between the existing structure and the new addition. On the ground floor, the uneven levels of the original floor were corrected with a concrete resurfacing, which was leveled and then diamond-polished to create a seamless transition into the extension. Outside, the deck was meticulously refined to accurately reflect the architects' design and ensure its integration with the residence's architecture.
Leveling a highly uneven floor
The ground floor had significant level variations. The challenge was to create a uniform surface that would naturally flow into the new extension.
Building a deck that matches the vision
The terrace presents several integration and implementation challenges. The goal is to translate architectural intentions into a precise, coherent, and durable final product.

Creating continuity between the existing structure and the extension
Rather than working around the floor level differences of the existing space, we redid the entire ground floor to achieve a uniform level with the extension. The concrete floor was then diamond-polished to reveal its texture and create a seamless surface. This intervention allows us to respect the architectural plans while ensuring true continuity between the existing spaces and the new construction, both in their layout and their materiality.
Translating architectural intentions into reality
Building the terrace requires a careful reading of the plans and finding solutions adapted to the actual site conditions. Every detail is studied to translate the architects' intentions with precision, balancing geometry, materials, levels, and construction constraints. This approach preserves the quality of the architectural design through to execution and ensures a seamless integration between the residence and its new outdoor spaces.
